Joshna claims her first WISPA title

India's squash queen Joshna Chinappa who won her first WISPA title of her career when she won the NSC Satellite No 3 event at National Squash Centre in Kuala Lumpur .  The first ever by an Indian. 

In the final Joshna beat Low Lee Wern 11-8,11-5, 11-3. Joshna had reached two finals this year, losing Satellite events in Viet Nam and Guangdhou. In the semi-finals, Joshna beat top seed Malaysian Sharon Wee, who is ranked No 3 in Asia behind world champ Nicol David and Rebecaa Chiu. Wee had won the bronze at the Doha Asiad.  

Joshna said she was grateful for the sparring she did with Saurav Ghoshal and Harinder Singh at the ICL Academy in Chennai. Unlike other Indian aspirants she doesn't believe in training in Egypt . Joshna has been sponsored by the Mittal Champions Trust. 

A proud father, Anjan, said from Chennai:``Joshna has been extremely sharp and focused, and was in devasting form in the final.  She had made it to finals before but couldn't close it out, which is some thing she has worked on.  This win should help her significantly move up the rankings".

Quarterfinals: 
Joshna beat Chinatsu Matsui (Jap) 11-8, 11-7, 11-7.
  

Men's 1st round: 
Cheng Yao Huang (Taipei) beat Naresh Kumar (
Ind) 7-11, 11-5, 8-11, 11-5, 11-9
